Chlorine taste or smell? Book a free in-home water test.
We test your water on the spot and you see the results before you pay anything. No obligation.
What it is
Town water is disinfected with chlorine or chloramine to keep it safe on the way to your house. That's a good thing, but many people don't like the taste or smell.
Signs to look for
- Water tastes or smells like a swimming pool
- Dry skin or hair after showering
- Family members drink bottled water instead of tap
What causes it
Public water suppliers add a disinfectant on purpose. The level is regulated, but you can still taste and smell it, especially in homes close to where it's added.
How we fix it
Whole-home carbon filtration removes chlorine taste and odor at every tap, including showers. Typical package: Whole-Home Carbon Filtration (typical installed cost $1,500–$4,000). For drinking water only, Single-Fixture Reverse Osmosis (estimated installed cost $950–$3,000) is another option.
Prices are typical installed ranges. Your exact price comes after the free test. See all pricing.
